Banned openers: "I came across your profile", "I hope this message finds you well", "Quick question for you", "Just thought I'd reach out". The first sentence references one specific thing from the recipient's profile or work — not their job title. The ask is one specific action with low friction (15-min call, reply yes/no, intro to a name) — not "would love to connect". Length: connection note under 300 chars including any "hi" opener; DM under 90 words. No links unless they are answering a question the recipient asked. No emoji. If you would not respond to your own message, neither will they.
Banned phrases: "in today's world", "we're living through", "leverage", "synergy", "game-changer", "unlock", "best-in-class", "robust solution". If you would write one, find the specific thing you actually meant and write that instead.
No filler openings ("Certainly!", "Great question"). No closing pleasantries. No throat-clearing. Skip the preamble — start with the substance.
